Corrosion Resistance
NIMONIC Alloy 86 is a nickel-based superalloy with excellent corrosion resistance. It performs well in a variety of harsh environmental conditions and can resist the erosion of a variety of chemical media.
NIMONIC Alloy 86 is well tolerated in acidic, alkaline and saline environments. It can maintain stable performance under both reducing and oxidizing conditions. This alloy is also very resistant to chloride ions, sulfides and hydride environments.
NIMONIC Alloy 86 offers excellent corrosion resistance, especially at high temperatures. It can withstand the corrosion of molten metal, molten salt and various acids, bases, salts and other chemical media. In addition, NIMONIC Alloy 86 has excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking and pitting.
Due to its excellent corrosion resistance, NIMONIC Alloy 86 is widely used in a variety of industrial applications under high temperatures and harsh environments. In the oil and gas industry, for example, it is used to make equipment such as pipes, valves and pumps; In the chemical industry, it is used to manufacture equipment such as reaction vessels, heat exchangers and pipes; In the aerospace sector, it is used in the manufacture of engine components and high-temperature structural parts.
Heat Treatment
The heat treatment of NIMONIC Alloy 86 mainly includes two stages: solution treatment and aging treatment.
Solution treatment is to heat the alloy to a temperature close to its melting point, so that the alloying elements are fully dissolved in the matrix to form a single-phase solid solution. This process helps to eliminate stress inside the alloy, improving plasticity and toughness. The time, temperature and cooling rate of solution treatment have important effects on the performance of NIMONIC Alloy 86. It is usually necessary to determine the best solution treatment parameters according to the specific alloy composition, part shape and size.
Aging treatment is an important link in the process of heat treatment. By holding heat for a long time at a certain temperature, the solute atoms are gradually precipitated from the matrix to form intermetallic compounds or strengthening phases, thereby improving the hardness and strength of the alloy. The aging time and temperature also affect the properties of NIMONIC Alloy 86. In the heat treatment process of NIMONIC Alloy 86, a double aging treatment is usually used, that is, a primary aging treatment at a lower temperature and then a secondary aging treatment at a higher temperature to obtain the best overall performance.
